VOX 3 Vocal Collective Inc. , presents Opera Alfresco
VOX 3, a Chicago-based vocal music collective, offers a follow up to last year’s hit concert “The Great Outdoors” with this festive program of outdoor opera scenes. Bring a blanket, and enjoy a lovely summer evening as members of VOX 3 present arias and scenes from classic American, German, French and Italian operas, all staged in a laid-back, garden party atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic evening under the stars, this musical midsummer evening will feature VOX 3 members and guests starting with simple solos and culminating with famous, beautiful ensembles from Verdi’s “Rigoletto” and Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.”
Singing on this program are VOX 3 members Elizabeth Abowd, Ashlee Hardgrave, Brian Hoffman, Brad Jungwirth, Alexia Kruger, Rebecca Prescott, Brian von Rueden, and Angela Zawada. Guest artists Rachel Allen, Heath Harris, Nina Heebink, Garrett Johannsen join in singing works by Barber, Offenbach, Adamo, Strauss, and Mozart.
Admission to Opera Alfresco is free, although donations are welcome. The concert is Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 7:00pm at Church of the Three Crosses, 333 W. Wisconsin Street. The performance will take place in the courtyard, weather permitting, and is co-sponsored by Church of the Three Crosses.
